Safety Precautions

Connector type

The RP-1700 series uses a common COM and FG (Field Ground) terminal. To prevent malfunctions and failures, please ensure that the FG terminal of the power connector is properly grounded.

When connecting to the protective earth terminal, always use an M4 crimp terminal with insulation on the crimped portion. The RP-1700 series uses a common COM and FG terminal. Ensure FG is properly grounded to prevent malfunctions and failures.

The optional cables listed above are for domestic use only. For North America and Canada, UL and CSA certified products are required, and for the EU, TUV certified products are required; therefore, separate arrangements will be made for export. Please note that due to the difficulty in procuring connectors and cables suitable for China, only terminal block type encoders will be sold for the Chinese market. Cables will not be sold for the Chinese market. For domestic use, if you require a power connection of AC 125 V or higher, only terminal block type encoders are available. The connectors used comply with Japanese electrical safety regulations and cannot be used with AC 125 V or higher.

What is IP protection rating?

The protection class (IP) of the RP series conforms to the Japanese Industrial Standard JIS C 0920 (corresponding to IEC 529) for the waterproof and dustproof properties of electrical machinery and equipment, and specifies the test method by classifying the classes as follows:
