To accurately measure sound pressure levels and noise levels, it is necessary to check the readings of the sound level meter before and after measurement. Acoustic calibrators are used to check and maintain that sound level meters (noise meters) are indicating accurate values. They are defined by JIS C 1515 and IEC 60942 standards and are classified into Class 1, Class 2, etc., depending on their performance.

What is an acoustic calibrator?

This device is used for unit calibration of measuring microphones and for verifying the readings of sound level meters. Since sound pressure is affected by factors such as temperature and atmospheric pressure, it is important to use an acoustic calibrator before and after measurement to ensure accurate measurements. Some standards regarding measurement methods, such as sound power level measurement, require the use of an acoustic calibrator to calibrate microphones. Furthermore, JIS C 1509-1 and IEC 61672-1 stipulate that a Class 1 acoustic calibrator must be used when using a Class 1 sound level meter.

Regarding the use of acoustic calibrators

  • Even with the same acoustic calibrator, the "calibration sound pressure level" can differ depending on the type of microphone.
When calibrating, you must always check the "calibration sound pressure level" in the instruction manual.
  • If you are using a "Class 1" sound level meter or microphone, we recommend using a "Class 1" acoustic calibrator.

  • Regular calibration is necessary to ensure the performance of the acoustic calibrator.
Our company offers three calibration services: "ASNITE calibration," "JCSS calibration," and "general calibration."

Features

SC-2600

  • This acoustic calibrator conforms to JIS C 1515:2020 Class 1 and has a nominal sound pressure level of 94 dB. In addition to feedback control, it incorporates correction functions for static pressure and temperature to produce a stable sound.

  • For high-precision measurements using the low-noise microphone MI-1282M10 *, we recommend using this product.
    * Acoustic calibration of low-noise microphones requires an acoustic calibrator with a nominal sound pressure level of 94 dB.

SC-2500A

  • This acoustic calibrator conforms to JIS C 1515:2020 Class 1 and has a nominal sound pressure level of 114 dB. It generates a stable sound through internal feedback control.

  • Because it generates a high sound pressure level of 114 dB, it is less susceptible to interference from loud ambient noise levels such as factories and outdoors, and calibration can be performed in the actual measurement environment.

SC-2120A

  • This acoustic calibrator conforms to JIS C 1515:2004 Class 2 and has a nominal sound pressure level of 94 dB. It can also be used for simple operational checks.

  • By adopting a dynamic speaker design, we have achieved a low price.
