Magneto-Electric Rotation Detector
AP-981

Magneto-Electric Rotation Detector AP-981

The AP-981 is nitrate-resistant (at concentrations of 10% or less) and has a waterproof construction. While not exclusively for underwater use, it meets protection class 7 (IP X7), meaning it can be used in environments where it may occasionally be submerged.
It incorporates a magnetoresistive element, permanent magnet, DC amplifier, and voltage regulator internally, and is designed as a flux-response type (resistance changes according to magnetic flux), allowing detection of square wave output from ultra-low speeds to high speeds (1 to 20,000 r/min (60 P/R)).
AP-981: Signal cable 1.9 m, directly attached (Terminal: open)
There are two other types of Magneto-Electric Rotation Detector available:

General-purpose type (waterproof/dustproof): MP-9810 →
High-speed type (waterproof/dustproof): MP-9830→

Features

  • 0 r/min: Detectable from close range.

  • It's safe because it's non-contact detection.

  • It's small, lightweight, and easy to install.

  • The mounting location can be anywhere as long as a gear can be attached to the object being measured.

  • Measurement is possible in environments where submersion is possible, and in a nitric acid mist atmosphere.

Relationship between gear module and detection distance

Relationship between gear module and detection distance

The detection distance varies depending on the module of the detection gear used; a larger module allows for a longer detection distance. The detection distance also depends on temperature; in cases where the ambient temperature fluctuates significantly, the detection distance should be minimized during installation. Note that the detectable range shown in the diagram is when the output waveform duty cycle is within 50% ± 20%.

Installation Precautions

Installation Precautions

Magneto-Electric Rotation Detector (MP-9800 series/AP-981) requires alignment of the center of the gear teeth with the alignment mark.
