New features

1. Strengthening data governance

This allows for a quick and clear assessment of the authenticity of test results, and also contributes to streamlining post-test evaluation work.

Full output of configuration settings

This function saves and prints all settings that affect measurement and calculation results.
Not only can you review the settings afterward, but you can also use this as a means to prove that the test results have not been arbitrarily manipulated.

  • Full output of configuration settings
Record of accuracy level determination results

This function records the accuracy level determination result (Precision) within the data file.
This allows you to see at a glance whether the measurement results meet the accuracy standards stipulated in various automotive testing regulations.

  • Record of accuracy level determination results
Recording of trigger factors

This function records the triggering factors in a data file.
Being able to later verify which trigger started and stopped the measurement clarifies that the test was conducted correctly and increases the reliability of the results.

  • Recording of trigger factors
Enhancements for ABS testing

Required option: LC-0833 orbit display software
LC-0836 IMU data output function

The system can now measure, display, and save vehicle deviation (lateral drift) and change in yaw angle (vehicle tilt angle).
In ABS testing, the ability to perform quantitative evaluations using measuring instruments, rather than subjective visual judgments, improves the authenticity and reproducibility of test results.

  • Enhancements for ABS testing

2. Improved operability

Based on feedback from our customers, we have pursued ease of use, including operability and visibility.

IMU Zero Adjustment Function

This function adjusts the X/Y/Z axis acceleration and roll, pitch, and yaw angle values to zero. The instantaneous state can be set as the zero point via button operation on the display or application. This eliminates the need for post-processing correction of deviations caused by gravitational acceleration (-9.8 m/s²) and IMU tilt, reducing workload.

  • IMU Zero Adjustment Function
Displaying filenames on the display unit

After measurement is complete, the file name will now be displayed on the display unit. This makes it easier and more reliable to link driving data, which previously required limited information such as the update time.

  • Displaying filenames on the display unit
Expansion of the data file read limit

The maximum size of data files that can be read by the application software has been significantly increased. This allows for smooth handling of long-term measurement data, such as that from road tests.
(Previous version) 65,000 points (approx. 10 minutes 50 seconds *) (New version) 500,000 points (approx. 83 minutes 20 seconds *)
* In the case of 100 Hz sampling

3. Renewal of optional features

Orbital analysis function (LC-0833 trajectory display software)

New features have been added that not only enhance the authenticity of the tests but also contribute to increased work efficiency and improved safety during testing.

Coasting test function (LC-0837 Coasting test software, LC-0829N main unit coasting test function)

This system measures the rolling resistance of a vehicle by allowing it to coast. It complies with various regulations such as "UN R154," "SAE J2263," and China's "GB," and can be applied to a wide range of test requirements.

Features

1. Stable measurement

Two reasons why it offers exceptional stability

Improved satellite acquisition performance

This device employs a GPS/GLONASS receiver with approximately four times the sensitivity of conventional models. Compared to previous models, satellite acquisition performance has been significantly improved, eliminating concerns about lost satellite signal during measurement. Furthermore, it allows for antenna installation inside the vehicle.

Fusion of GPS and IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit)

By using not only GPS speed information but also correction via an IMU, stable measurements are achieved even in environments where radio wave reception is unstable.
Furthermore, even when satellite acquisition is good, the IMU constantly performs speed correction, resulting in a much smoother speed output compared to using GPS alone.

  • The image above illustrates satellite acquisition and correction by the IMU. It does not necessarily guarantee the accuracy or number of satellites acquired by the product. Furthermore, depending on the vehicle type and driving environment, the number of satellites acquired may decrease, leading to unstable measurements.
    * The image above illustrates satellite acquisition and correction by the IMU. It does not necessarily guarantee the accuracy or number of satellites acquired by the product. Also, depending on the vehicle type and driving environment, the number of satellites acquired may decrease, and measurements may become unstable.
Increasingly Expanding Application Scenarios

Various test environments

This system allows for stable measurements without being hindered by satellite signal loss, not only in wide-open spaces like test courses, but also in urban areas where radio interference is likely to occur due to trees and buildings, and even when passing under elevated structures.
Furthermore, when the vehicle is stopped, such as at a traffic light, the speed display will remain at 0 km/h. There will be no fluctuation in the display.
* Depending on the driving environment, the number of satellites acquired may decrease, resulting in unstable measurements.

To meet a wide range of testing needs

In addition to being mounted on the roof of the car, the GPS antenna can also be installed inside the car.*
It can be used for a wide range of testing needs, including driving resistance performance.

  • GPS antenna installation image (on the roof)
  • GPS antenna installation image (on the dashboard inside the car)

* Depending on the vehicle type and driving environment, the number of satellites acquired may decrease, resulting in unstable measurements.
* For tests requiring high distance accuracy and involving rapid acceleration and deceleration, please install the antenna on the roof.

Perfect for this kind of test scene

Noise test
I don't want to install any equipment that would affect wind noise.

Coasting test
I don't want to increase air resistance with antennas and cables.

Practical test
We want to conduct stable tests even on actual roads.
I don't want to attach anything conspicuous to the body.

Testing in severe weather conditions*
For example, to conduct tests without worrying about the antenna during rain or snow.

* The antenna has an IP67 protection rating. It can also be installed outside the vehicle (on the body) during inclement weather.

2. High response

Even with sudden acceleration and sudden braking

By fusing GPS and IMU information for calculations, we have achieved highly accurate and responsive speed measurement. Accurate speed measurement is possible even during rapid acceleration and braking. It is ideal for tests requiring high transient response accuracy, such as acceleration tests, braking tests, and handling stability tests. Our proprietary calculation algorithm achieves a balance of responsiveness, stability, and low noise.

  • Measurement example (emergency braking 50 → 0 km/h)
  • Measurement example (Tip-in - Tip-out * 10 ←→ 40 km/h)

3. Compact body design

Various test vehicles

Compared to the LC-8120, it achieves a space reduction of approximately 60% in volume. Furthermore, the IMU is built into the main unit, reducing wiring. By integrating the storage function into the speedometer unit, testing is possible with a simple configuration of only the LC-8300A GPS speedometer unit and peripherals (main unit test mode: PC-less). In addition, by adding the GPS speedometer unit test function option, tests compliant with regulations such as acceleration performance and braking performance can be performed without a PC.
It can be used not only for four-wheeled vehicles, but also for two-wheeled vehicles, agricultural machinery, construction machinery, and other vehicles where installation space is limited.
