Motor & Engine Tachometer
CT-6710

With a variety of sensors, even rotational speeds that were previously impossible to measure can now be measured.

The CT-6710 is a compact engine tachometer that can accept various sensor inputs.
Due to its compact size, it is effective not only for engine and EV/HEV motor bench tests, but also for measuring engine and EV/HEV motor rotation in actual vehicles.
Ten types of detectors are available, including ignition pulse detectors, gasoline and diesel engine rotation detectors, motor rotation detectors, and magnetic rotation detectors. ECU crank angle signals (unequal-interval pulses) can also be input. Furthermore, Accelerometer and ultra-compact Electromagnetic Detector have been added to the lineup of compatible sensors.
Even in cases where it is difficult to install a detector in an actual vehicle, engine rotational speed can be measured by inputting the crank angle signal for the ECU.

Please note: Depending on the type of engine and motor, measurement may not be possible or the measurement range may change. For engines and motors with no prior experience in use, please check with a demo unit. To request a demo unit, please contact your nearest sales office.

Features

The lineup of compatible sensors has expanded.

*Note: Sensor sold separately.

The rotational speeds of motors and diesel engines, which were previously difficult to measure, can now be measured with the new sensors.

NP-3000 series Accelerometer

NP-3000 series Accelerometer

This piezoelectric vibration detection system detects vibrations caused by the up-and-down movement of the piston. Its high sensitivity and wide frequency range allow for rotational speed measurement even with very small vibrations. Please try it on diesel engines, which were previously difficult to measure.

MP-992 Ultra-compact Electromagnetic Detector

MP-992 Ultra-compact Electromagnetic Detector

This device uses electromagnetic induction to detect leakage magnetic flux from the rotating shaft of the magnet in motors and magnet ignition engines. Its compact size, with a sensor head length of 13 mm, allows for installation in confined spaces. It enables stable motor rotation measurement with simple installation.

Enhanced trigger level adjustment function

This function suppresses fluctuations in rotational speed from engine start-up to high RPM range, ensuring stable measurement. It also reduces the hassle of adjusting the trigger level.

This expands the range of applications for your existing sensors.

Trigger Assist Mode

Trigger Assist Mode

The ignition signal contains electromagnetic induction and noise from the ignition of other cylinders. By turning on Trigger Assist mode, the system automatically adjusts to the optimal level for detecting only the ignition signal, allowing for stable measurement even when the engine speed is changed.

Trigger level tracking function

Trigger level tracking function

This function reduces the trigger level as the rotation speed increases. Use this function when the signal waveform becomes too small to detect as the rotation speed increases. (IP series exclusive function)

Reduces unwanted noise signals. Input frequency divider function.

Reduces unwanted noise signals. Input frequency divider function.

When periodic noise with an amplitude close to the ignition signal is input, the system remains unstable even after adjusting the trigger level. By adding a frequency divider function, the signal is converted to a signal with a constant period, enabling stable measurement.

Separate analog rotation speed indicator (optional CT-0677)

Separate analog rotation speed indicator (optional CT-0677)

This separate display unit (optional: CT-0677) is designed to meet the need to see the rotational speed behavior using an analog meter needle. No power supply connection is required for the display unit. Simply connect the analog signal cable (included as standard with the display unit) for easy use.

  • Diverse output functions that capture transient phenomena with high-speed response

Diverse output functions that capture transient phenomena with high-speed response

It captures transient phenomena in engine rotational speed with high-speed response.

The analog output follows acceleration and deceleration behavior with a conversion time of no more than one period of the input signal + 8 μs. The pulse output can be output without delay through waveform shaping. In addition, high-speed digital output is possible with the CAN output function (optional: CT-0671).

Measures engine rotation speed using the crank angle signal for the ECU (Optional CT-0672)

Measures engine rotation speed using the crank angle signal for the ECU (Optional CT-0672)

The crank pulse plate, which forms the basis of the crank angle signal, has extra or missing teeth, and the signal is not output at equal intervals, making it unsuitable for measuring engine rotational speed.

Therefore, by learning patterns with non-constant intervals, it becomes possible to perform measurements using crank angle signals. (Option: CT-0672)

We pursued compactness and ease of operation that makes it easy to use not only on engine benches but also for measurements on actual vehicles.

Pulse output function for tracking analysis

The DIRECT (for rotational synchronization signal) pulse output of the CT-6710 can be imported into our DS series for tracking analysis.

Peace of mind even when the engine is stopped: Deceleration condition measurement function

Peace of mind even when the engine is stopped: Deceleration condition measurement function

This function allows you to set stop conditions in case the detection pulse signal decreases rapidly due to an abrupt engine stop or similar event.
The prediction calculation stop time (ESTIMATE) is predicted from the last detected signal period and the analog output is reduced to stop. The hold time (KEEP) stops the analog output by setting it to 0V at a preset time.

Engine status monitoring comparator output function

Engine status monitoring comparator output function

This function allows you to set the criteria for determining engine run and overrun.
When the engine speed exceeds the set value for engine run, it is determined that the engine has started. If it exceeds the set value for overrun, it is determined that there is an engine malfunction and a contact signal is output.

For example, if you set the engine run speed to 500 r/min and the overrun speed to 6000 r/min, the operation will be as shown in the left diagram.

    User-friendly visibility and operability

    User-friendly visibility and operability

Its high visibility allows for easy function configuration via a menu-style interface.
By assigning direct keys, including rotary knobs, to frequently used sensor types, pulse counts, and trigger levels, settings can be configured quickly and efficiently.

High-speed digital data CAN output function (optional: CT-0671)

High-speed digital data CAN output function (optional: CT-0671)

    Baud rate (kbps) 125, 250, 500, 1000
    Update frequency (Hz) OFF, 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 100, 1000

Rotation speed data is output via CAN communication.
The output update frequency is up to 1 kHz. Rotational speed data can be recorded using CAN communication-enabled devices such as CAN loggers.
