The mass burette flow detector, when used in combination with the FM-3100 flow meter, detects the liquid level of fuel filled in a precision burette tube using a high-precision differential pressure gauge mounted at the bottom, and directly measures the fuel flow rate by weight from the pressure change. It offers high accuracy without requiring temperature or specific gravity calculation corrections, and is extremely resistant to air bubble inclusion, making it suitable for fuel consumption measurement in tests such as chassis dynamometers and engine benches. Three models are available to suit different measurement ranges and applications.

Based on the pressure signal from the differential pressure detector, when the liquid level drops below L3, the solenoid valve (V1) opens and the liquid is filled. When the liquid level reaches L2, V1 closes, and after the set liquid level stabilization time has elapsed, measurement of the instantaneous flow rate begins. As the liquid level drops below L2 due to outflow from the flow detector, the output of the differential pressure detector also changes according to the weight of the outflowing liquid.
Based on this change, the flow rate can be digitally displayed as a direct weight reading using the FM-3100 (FM-0331 FX module built-in) digital flow meter.

The air vent port is a port used to allow air that is generated inside the detector as liquid flows in and out to enter and exit.
Typically, the piping is routed to the gas layer of the liquid supply tank.
Furthermore, by connecting compressed air at a constant pressure to this port, fluid can be pressurized and pumped to the test specimen. Pressurized pumping does not affect flow rate measurement.
