Message from the President
My dream is for our company's products to enrich not only Japan but also countries all over the world.
Yuji Okoshi
There are more and more exciting things happening at work.
Ono Sokki will celebrate its 71st anniversary in 2025. It will also be the year I reach my 40th year working at the company.
Looking back, the world has changed dramatically in the last 40 years. When I first started working, not only were mobile phones not so common, but personal computers weren't nearly as widespread. Now, a world like that famous science fiction movie with a time machine is becoming a reality. There are still technologies that haven't been put into practical use, like flying cars, but I never imagined that things I thought were just dreams would actually become part of everyday life... I'm reminded every day of just how rapidly the world is changing.
In 2024, our company revamped its corporate philosophy. The mission I have set forth is "To break new ground and create the future." In order to achieve further growth and become a 100-year-old company, I believe that "challenging the unknown" will continue in all industries. It will continue to be necessary for us to work together with our customers to find solutions and take action to achieve the goals they want to realize. We want to be a company that is recognized as a partner by our customers (and society). We want to be a company that people want to realize their dreams with.
I also constantly tell our employees that I want to create a company where smiles abound. There are many different kinds of work within the company, but I believe that the greatest motivation for business people is being able to find their work "interesting," "exciting," and "rewarding." I believe that our company has been able to reach its 71st year because of the contributions of each and every one of our positive employees.
Five years have passed since I became president, and I feel that the company is gradually changing, thanks to initiatives such as the introduction of a technical "lab system" that removes organizational barriers. Every day, as I listen to the reports from our engineers, I'm increasingly encountering projects that I find interesting, and I'm genuinely excited about them.
A company blessed with wonderful customers and talented employees—that is my ideal vision of Ono Sokki.
A medium-term management plan to create the future together
In 2025, our company launched a new medium-term management plan, Challenge Stage IV. While details can be found on our medium-term management plan page, the theme is "Mastering measurement, striving for understanding, and connecting with the world." We aim to become a 100-year-old company and continue sustainable growth. This plan is designed to create the future together with our employees, in order to achieve that goal.
There are two points I'd like you to pay attention to. The first is our "adaptation to digital technology." In 2023, we started selling "benchmarking reports" for electric vehicles as a new business, and we are pleased that our customers have been very happy with them. This business is also creating a new positive cycle. By measuring things ourselves using our own measuring equipment, we are also generating new "product ideas," such as "we want to measure this kind of place, so we need a product like this." In other words, a cycle of things → services → things is being created.
We intend to leverage this cycle to develop our own simulation software that can be used in the field of acoustic vibration, which is our area of expertise. This means that we will focus more than ever on software, in addition to the sensing technology that we have cultivated over many years. Similarly, we will use the simulation software ourselves and continuously improve it. From now on, "sensing and software" will be key to our company's success.
The world has undergone significant changes, with the COVID-19 pandemic serving as a turning point. In the automotive industry, for example, model-based development (MBD), which eliminates the need for prototype vehicles, has advanced, and customer preferences and working styles have changed dramatically. Therefore, in order to further promote MBD, we are planning to construct a new base in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, tentatively named the "Chubu Linkage Center," as a place for co-creation with like-minded customers. However, as the environment surrounding our company is changing daily, we will introduce "what we hope to achieve at the new base" once we are able to discuss the details more concretely.
The second point is "expanding sales in overseas markets." First of all, I would like to express my deepest sympathies to those affected by the Myanmar earthquake that occurred in April 2025. Our Thai base was partially affected, but we would like to contribute in any way we can to the recovery of those affected.
We currently have local subsidiaries in the United States, China, Thailand, and India, and we aim to expand sales through these channels. We want to support global manufacturing with the "measuring instrument" technology that we have honed over many years.
Our goal is to be "a company blessed with wonderful customers and employees."
Developing SDGs initiatives that differ from those of other companies.
Since our founding, our company has been supported by the automotive industry, which has allowed us to come this far. In the future, in order to respond to the sustainable mobility society stemming from the problem of global warming, it will be difficult to avoid "electrification of power sources." However, although several technological breakthroughs will be necessary, the knowledge gained will be applicable to other industries such as aircraft. For our company, this is a very challenging and worthwhile endeavor.
In addition to technical approaches, we are also focusing on "carbon offsetting" as a way to address environmental concerns. We established the "Environmental Strategy Promotion Office" in 2024 to actively tackle this issue. As a result of implementing various improvement measures at all our domestic locations, centered around the Utsunomiya Technical & Product Center, under the name "Ono Sokki Factory Activities," we were able to reduce CO2 emissions (Scope 1, Scope 2*) by 51% in 2024 compared to 2022.
Furthermore, we have entered into a partnership with Race Promotion Co., Ltd., the organizer of the All Japan Super Formula Championship (hereinafter referred to as SUPER FORMULA), and are undertaking an initiative to make the annual CO2 emissions of participating vehicles virtually zero by using the J-Credits that we hold. We want to contribute in any way we can to the automotive industry, which has supported us for a long time, and we are contributing to the SDGs not only through our own company but also through motorsport, which is the pinnacle of the automotive industry.
Furthermore, we continue to sponsor young racing driver Juju (Juju Noda), as we did in 2024. Last season was her first year competing in SUPER FORMULA. This season, she has formed a new team and is competing, but she is facing a tough battle. I really hope she will focus on getting results and do her best. I also keep her belief of "never giving up, no matter how many times I lose" in mind.
We aim to be a company that brings smiles to everyone's faces.
Lastly, my dream is that in five or ten years, our products will contribute to the prosperity of not only Japan but also countries all over the world. I want to provide peace of mind, safety, and prosperity through measuring instruments. I sincerely hope that not only our employees, but also our users and stakeholders around the world will be happy and smiling.
The company has been steadily changing over the past few years. I hope that each individual will not feel excessive pressure, but rather work with a healthy sense of tension to achieve results. Furthermore, we want to support an attitude of taking responsibility for one's work by one's own will, rather than blaming others. I want to work together with such employees, relentlessly taking on challenges and "opening up the unknown" to create a future full of smiles.
*Scope 1: Direct greenhouse gas emissions by the business operator itself (fuel combustion, industrial processes) / Scope 2: Indirect emissions from the use of electricity, heat, and steam supplied by other companies
