    MF-3200 / DF-2200

Due to recent fuel efficiency issues and changes in the automotive environment, Europe and Japan are considering introducing new testing regulations called RDE (Real Driving Emissions), which involve random and dynamic real-world driving. Furthermore, in vehicle development, there is a growing demand for instantaneous fuel efficiency measurement during driving, rather than just transient measurements.
The FP-4135 / DF-2200 is primarily targeted at returnless engines, which have become mainstream in gasoline vehicles. It combines compactness that allows it to be mounted in the engine compartment with high functionality, enabling fuel consumption measurement for all types of internal combustion engines.
The MF-3200 targets diesel engines with a fuel return system. It features a mechanism for handling the returned fuel, allowing for accurate measurement of fuel consumption. By cooling the returned fuel with fuel from the fuel tank, it can operate and measure without altering the actual engine operating conditions.

Features

1. Precautions for Detector Installation (FP-4135)

Common matters

Always ensure the engine is stopped before installing or removing the detector.
The engine is extremely hot immediately after stopping. Therefore, please wait until the engine temperature has cooled down before installing or removing the detector.

The FP-4135 vehicle-mounted positive displacement flow detector is a precision instrument.

  • Please use the device within the ambient temperature range (flow detection unit: -30 to +100 °C, signal processing unit: -30 to +70 °C), where temperature fluctuations are not extreme, and within the specified vibration range.
  • The FP-4135 vehicle-mounted positive displacement flow detector should be installed upright (within ±15°).
To mount and secure the flow detector, use the screws on the detector body or the included mounting bracket.
  • Please install the detector at a position lower than the liquid tank.
The detector should be installed lower than the liquid tank, and care should be taken to prevent air (gas) from accumulating and to avoid negative pressure.
This does not apply if the fuel is pressurized and pumped using a fuel pump.

2. Points to note when installing a flow meter (DF-2200)

When using the car battery

Please have the included battery power cable ready. The procedure for connecting the power from the battery itself is as follows:

  1. Ensure that the POWER switch on the DF-2200 vehicle-mounted fuel flow meter is in the OFF (○) position.

  2. Connect the battery.

  3. First, firmly insert the plug of the included battery power cable into the power connector (DC INPUT) located on the rear panel of the DF-2200 vehicle-mounted fuel flow meter.

  4. Connect the black end of the battery power cable to the negative terminal of the battery terminal, and the red end of the battery power cable to the positive terminal of the battery terminal.

When installing the DF-2200 unit in a vehicle

Refer to the following diagram and instructions to install it on the passenger seat of the vehicle.

  1. Attach the optional CT-0675 protective handle to the DF-2200 vehicle-mounted fuel flow meter. Secure the optional CT-0675 protective handle to the optional mounting screw holes located on the left and right sides of the DF-2200 vehicle-mounted fuel flow meter using the included screws.

  2. Secure the DF-2200 vehicle-mounted fuel flow meter to the passenger seat of the vehicle where it will be installed. Connect the cable with the mounting hook to the CT-0675 protective handle, and stretch it across the seat on both sides as shown in the following diagram, securing it firmly to prevent accidental movement.

* Do not install the DF-2200 unit on the dashboard.
If you place the DF-2200 unit on the dashboard, it may fall while driving, potentially causing injury or damage to the equipment.

* Permission from the police or the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism may be required to install the FP-4135 vehicle-mounted positive displacement flow detector in a vehicle and conduct measurements on public roads. Please contact your nearest police station for details.

3. Precautions for Detector Installation (MF-3200)

If the return fuel temperature from the engine is above 60°C, cool the fuel by installing a heat exchanger or similar device.

* For construction equipment applications, it is possible to increase the flow rate, enlarge the filter inlet, convert to DC12V or 24V, and reinforce the rubber feet.
When installing on a vehicle, be sure to insulate the flow meter body and secure it so that it does not come into contact with the vehicle.

  • 4. Usage example

a) Excavation and loading operation test
The fuel consumption or electricity consumption is measured when a standard bucket is attached and a simulated excavation and loading operation is performed.

b) Break-in operation test
Measure the fuel consumption or electricity consumption when performing leveling operations using the boom and arm.

c) Driving test
Measure fuel consumption or electricity consumption when driving on a flat, straight road on a paved surface or well-compacted ground.

d) Standby Test
For fuel-driven and hybrid hydraulic excavators, the fuel consumption at the minimum engine load rotational speed during standby is measured. For electric-driven hydraulic excavators, the power consumption required for standby operation as specified by the manufacturer is measured without applying an external load to the equipment connected to the motor during standby.
