Overview of GPS speedometer field testing

Our GPS speedometer supports a wide range of vehicle tests with its extensive testing functions. It can display and save test results calculated using legally mandated formulas. In addition to time-series data, it can also save data in report format.

Normal measurement (standard function)

Normal measurement (standard function)

We will measure speed, distance, and elapsed time from the start to the end of the measurement.

Section measurement test (standard function)

Section measurement test (standard function)

The system measures values such as maximum horizontal speed, minimum horizontal speed, average horizontal speed, horizontal travel distance, and elapsed time during the period from the start (GATE ON) to the end (GATE OFF) of the measurement.

Accelerated testing

Required options Main unit test mode LC-0827 Main unit acceleration test function
PC Exam Mode LC-0831 Acceleration/deceleration test software

Starting acceleration

This test measures instantaneous speed, distance traveled, elapsed time, and acceleration at specified steps, from the start of the test (starting at 0 km/h) until reaching 100 km/h* 1, or until reaching points of 400 m or 1000 m* 2.

* 1 It is also possible to set the speed arbitrarily.
* 2 It is also possible to set the distance arbitrarily.

  • Starting acceleration

overtaking acceleration

This test begins with the vehicle accelerating from a steady driving position by pressing the accelerator pedal, and starts when it reaches a user-defined speed or crosses a white line. The user continues to press the accelerator pedal, and the time it takes for the vehicle to reach the user-defined speed or distance is measured.

  • overtaking acceleration
  • Record the elapsed time and acceleration for each velocity step or distance step.

Braking test

*Fade testing is available as a custom order.

MFDD

This is a test mode for braking tests that conforms to the brake evaluation standard MFDD (Mean Saturated Deceleration). It measures braking distance, braking time, MFDD, etc., from the start of braking until the vehicle comes to a complete stop.

ABS Wet Grip

The system measures instantaneous speed, distance traveled (braking distance), elapsed time (braking time), and deceleration for each specific step from the start of braking until the vehicle comes to a complete stop.
ABS calculates the maximum deceleration (Z), while wet grip calculates the average deceleration (AD).
*Wet grip is only supported in PC test mode (using LC-0831 acceleration/deceleration test software).

  • ABS Wet Grip

Fade testing (custom order available)

This test evaluates high-temperature braking performance by repeatedly applying and releasing the brakes to allow the braking system to fade. During the heating procedure, the MFDD (Mean Saturated Deceleration) is calculated each time the vehicle decelerates from the initial braking speed v1 to the final braking speed v2. The measurement is completed when the vehicle decelerates from the specified test speed v until it comes to a complete stop, and the braking distance and MFDD at that point are calculated.

Coasting test

Required options Main unit test mode LC-0829N
Main unit coasting test function
PC Exam Mode LC-0831 Acceleration/deceleration test software

*When performing coasting tests in combination with the LC-0873 wireless communication unit, the LC-0837 coasting test software is required.

This test measures the coasting performance of a vehicle, including coasting time, coasting coefficient, average speed over the section, and distance traveled, from the moment the vehicle's speed drops below the starting speed (or when the START button is pressed) until it reaches the ending speed (or when the STOP button is pressed), after the driver has released the accelerator and shifted into neutral.

Fuel efficiency test

Required options PC Exam Mode
LC-0832 Fuel efficiency testing software

Constant speed fuel consumption

This test measures fuel consumption while a vehicle is driven at a constant speed on a level, straight road.
A constant-speed fuel consumption test allows you to obtain measurement results such as distance traveled, elapsed time, average speed, cumulative fuel consumption, and cumulative fuel consumption rate for each distance step and time step since the start of measurement.

Pattern fuel efficiency

This fuel efficiency test mode measures distance, time, average speed, fuel flow rate, and fuel consumption for each section under various driving patterns.
For example, by conducting a pattern fuel consumption test with each lap of the test course designated as one section, it is possible to obtain measurement results such as the fuel consumption rate for each lap and the fuel consumption rate for the entire course.

Trajectory analysis

Required options PC Exam Mode
LC-0833
Track display software
Tracking of travel route

Tracking of travel route

The system measures the vehicle's trajectory from start to stop and plots the results as a relative trajectory in a graph.

Calculation of lateral flow

Renewal

Measurement of vehicle deviation and yaw angle change

The system measures, displays, and saves the amount of vehicle deviation (lateral drift) and the change in yaw angle (vehicle tilt angle) from the start of measurement to the end of measurement (stopping).

Measurement of minimum turning radius

Renewal

Measurement of minimum turning radius

The system finds an approximate circle (least squares circle) from the travel trajectory and automatically calculates the radius.
This eliminates the need to manually measure values using a tape measure on the test track or to read values from driving data.
