Contributing to a carbon-neutral society through support for next-generation EV development

Ono Sokki makes its first foray into data business, leveraging its measurement technology and expertise

We will begin offering new additional services from August 2023.

Ono Sokki Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kohoku-ku, Yokohama City, President: Yuji Okoshi), a manufacturer and distributor of electronic measuring instruments, has launched a second phase of its "Benchmarking Report Sales" service, which was first offered in June of this year, with the addition of new services, starting in August 2023.

  • Measurement results for BYD's original Plus
  • BYD Plus Driving Measurement

Since our founding in 1954, we have been manufacturing and selling electronic measuring instruments. In the same year, we developed the first tachometer in Japan for measuring the rotational speed of jet engines. As a pioneer in digital measuring instruments, we have provided technical and research and development support in various fields, including the aerospace industry, motorcycle and automobile industries, construction machinery, and the automotive parts industry.
The new service we are launching, "Benchmarking Report Sales," is a first for us since our founding, and we plan to develop it into a new business foundation. This time, we are starting to offer the second batch of newly added reports.

Service Overview

  • This includes measurement data for the mid-size SUV from BYD, China's largest EV manufacturer.
*Test vehicle: BYD PLUS (Japanese name ATTO3)
  • Measurement data utilizing our greatest strength: measurement and analysis technology related to "acoustics and vibration"

  • We plan to expand our measurement data at a pace of four vehicle models per year.

Motor and inverter vibration

To investigate the vibration of the motor and inverter during steady-state and transient operation in the low-to-high speed range, a 3-axis accelerometer was installed, and measurements and analyses were performed.

Motor inverter sound

1/2-inch microphones were installed on each of the six sides of the power unit, including the motor and inverter, and measurements and analyses were performed during steady-state and transient operation from low speed to high speed.

Power unit mount vibration

To investigate the vibrations transmitted from the power unit to the vehicle body, we used a 3-axis accelerometer to measure and analyze vibrations on both the unit and body sides of the power unit mount.

Car interior noise

1/2-inch microphones were installed in the driver's and passenger's seats inside the vehicle, and noise levels were measured and analyzed during steady and transient driving at low to high speeds.

Transmission system vibration characteristics

We measured and analyzed the vibrations of the steering column and the driver's seat when driving on a harsh road surface.

Suspension and tire vibration

To investigate vibrations transmitted from the tires while driving, we measured and analyzed vibrations from the steering knuckle and suspension towers, among other components.

alarm bell

We installed a noise meter on an ISO-certified road surface in a location compliant with the Road Transport Vehicle Act and measured the noise level when a vehicle's horn was activated.

Fuel efficiency and driving range

Based on GTR No.15 ANNEX 8, we measured the energy consumption and driving range during WLTC mode driving. In addition, we measured the energy consumption when the ventilator air conditioning temperature was changed, investigated the behavior of the refrigerant compressor, decomposed the losses of each element during mode driving, and compared the driving range displayed on the instrument panel with the actual driving range.
