O-Solution Calibration Function Error Notification

Thank you for your continued patronage of our products.
We have discovered a defect in the calibration function of the measurement mode in the O-Solution product you recently purchased. We would like to inform you of the details of the defect and the version upgrade for the affected product as follows. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Target Products

O-Solution

- O-Solution Lite (Free Viewer Function) Version 1.3.9 to Version 1.3.12
OS-5100 Platform Version 1.3.9 to Version 1.3.12

Details of the problem

It has been discovered that when the window function is set to flat top in the measurement mode's calibration function and calibration is performed, the calibration value (EU value) is not calculated correctly.
This bug occurs in version 1.3.9 and later.
*This issue does not occur in versions 1.0.16 through 1.2.7.
Due to an internal software processing error, the power spectrum calculation was performed using Hanning even though the window function was selected as flat-top. Furthermore, when OA was selected as the calibration target, the overall correction coefficient for flat-top was used, resulting in incorrect EU value calculation.

Conditions under which the malfunction occurs

In measurement mode, select [Input Settings] → [Calibration] to launch the calibration screen.

  • Conditions for the occurrence of the malfunction_No.1

[Proofreading] On the screen, press the settings button, set the proofreading target to OA, and the window function to Flat-Top.

  • Conditions for the occurrence of the malfunction_No.2

When calibrating using a calibrator (such as an acoustic calibrator) with the above settings, the calibration value (EU value) is not calculated correctly. Until a bug fix is available, please perform calibration with the window function set to Hanning.

Regarding the impact of this bug

When the window function is set to flat-top and the calibration target is OA, the flat-top correction value is used for the FFT spectrum obtained with the Hanning window, resulting in a smaller calibration value (EU value V/EU) (it becomes 0.6392* when the correct value is set to 1).
When measured under these conditions, the measured value will be approximately 1.56 times larger in RMS (approximately +3.89 in dB).
*The ratio of the square root of the flat-top overall correction factor (approximately 0.2724) and the Hanning overall correction factor (approximately 0.6667).

countermeasure

We will fix the software bug and provide a corrected version. Installing this corrected version on your current computer will update and improve O-Solution. The corrected version will be Ver1.3.15.

How to update to the corrected software

The updated software can be downloaded from our website (Ono Sokki- O-Solution Download). Please update your software. If you are unable to download it, please contact your nearest sales office.
