Technical Report on Sound and Its Sensors 2

Acoustic Intensity Microphone Probe

Acoustic intensity is defined as the "flow of energy passing through a unit area per unit time," and its measurement unit is W/m 2. The acoustic intensity microphone probe is designed to measure this flow of sound energy by incorporating multiple microphones, allowing it to capture the direction of the flow as a vector quantity along with the sound intensity. In general microphones, the sound pressure (unit: Pa) representing the sound intensity at a specific location (one point) can be measured, but the direction of the flow cannot be measured.

The acoustic intensity microphone is used for sound source exploration and acoustic power measurement due to the characteristics mentioned above.
