TS-2700 "Incorrect Torque Value" - How to Check if the Torque Sensor is Malfunctioning

One way to determine if the torque sensor is malfunctioning is to check if the zero correction value has changed significantly from the factory value. Performing the zero correction operation with the torque sensor unloaded will automatically set the zero value. Then, read the set zero correction value and check if it differs by more than ±100 from the factory zero correction value of the torque sensor (listed in the test report included with the product).

If the difference is large, the following causes are possible. If the difference is small, it is likely within the normal range due to factors such as temperature and aging, but if you have been using it for many years, we recommend inspection and calibration (for a fee). Please note that the zero correction value will be different depending on the CW/CCW setting.


[Factors influencing the change in the zero correction value]

  1. The torque sensor is not powered on.

  2. Zero correction was performed with the torque sensor powered off.

  3. Zero correction was performed with a load applied to the torque sensor.

  4. The CW/CCW settings of the torque detector and the TS-2700 do not match the rotation direction of the shaft being tested.

  5. The CW/CCW settings do not match between the detector and the TS-2700.
    (The CW/CCW key on the TS-2700 switches between the stored CW and CCW zero correction values.)

  6. Torque sensor failure

If none of the above conditions 1 through 5 apply, the detector needs to calibration calibrated and detailed checks, such as linearity, are required. Please reconfirm the following points to help you decide whether to send the device in for inspection and repair.

  • Turn on the torque sensor. Confirm that there is no load and perform zero correction again.

  • Perform zero correction again with the coupling on at least one axis of the torque sensor disconnected.

  • Ensure that the rotation direction of the shaft, as seen from the "drive side" sticker on the detector, matches the rotation direction setting of the detection auxiliary motor. (See: Checking the rotation direction of the SS series)

  • The rotation direction setting on the detector side corresponds to the rotation direction setting on the TS-2700 side.

  • calibration will be performed by measurement. (See: Torque detector calibration)

  • I'm considering requesting inspection, calibration, and repair from the manufacturer, Ono Sokki.

 

[Checking the zero correction value]

Press the "LOCK" key and, with the indicator light on, press the "TRQZERO" key. The currently set zero correction value will be displayed in the torque display window for a few seconds, and then it will return to the torque display. Release "LOCK" and press the "CW/CCW" key to switch between CW and CCW rotation direction settings. Check the zero correction value for each setting.

<Precautions when switching between CW/CCW>

When the "LOCK" key light is on, you cannot access various settings. To deactivate it, press the "LOCK" key again to turn off the light.
