TS-2700: The torque value does not become zero even under no load.
Possible factors include
(1) The torque sensor is not powered on (the switch is in neutral).
(2) The zero correction operation was not performed correctly.
(3) When torque is actually being applied

There is.
(2) is often seen, especially when using the device for the first time. After setting the menu to match the torque detector and configuring settings such as "Capacity (detector torque capacity)" and "FACTOR," you need to perform a zero correction operation. The following are some of the main reasons why the zero correction operation may not be performed correctly.

The torque sensor is not powered on (the switch is in neutral).
The SS and MD type torque detectors have a switch that can be set to three positions: neutral (power off), CW, and CCW. The center position of the switch is neutral. No signal is generated in the neutral position, so the correct zero correction cannot be set. When measuring, set the switch to CW or CCW according to the test rotation direction. (For detectors without a CW/CCW switch, please refer to the instruction manual for that detector.) -
The zero correction value is not being applied correctly.
2-1 Incorrect CW/CCW settings
The zero correction value differs depending on the rotation direction of the torque sensor shaft: CW (clockwise) or CCW (counterclockwise). Therefore, zero correction operations must be performed for each rotation direction. CW and CCW are defined as viewing the shaft from the side of the torque sensor with the "drive side" seal attached; CW is when the shaft rotates clockwise, and CCW is when it rotates counterclockwise. The CW/CCW setting is changed by switching a switch on the torque sensor and by using the "CW/CCW" key on the TS-2700. Ensure that the CW/CCW setting matches on both the sensor and the display unit before performing the zero correction operation.
2-2 Correct Zero Correction Procedure
Please refer to the [Zero Correction Procedure] below to perform zero correction and verify the results.

Zero correction is not performed under no-load conditions.
When a coupling is connected, the system may not be in an unloaded state even if rotation has stopped. If zero correction is performed in this state, the correction value will be set to zero by taking into account the actual applied torque. Please ensure that the shaft is in an unloaded state, such as being able to rotate it easily by hand, or perform zero correction with the coupling on the load side of the torque sensor disconnected. -
Incorrect setting of rotation direction
After zeroing the torque sensor, correctly set the CW/CCW settings on both the torque sensor and the TS-2700 to match the desired rotation direction before performing the measurement. Please note that the power will turn off if the sensor switch is in the neutral position.

■Zero Correction Procedure
For first-time users, the following is an overview of the zero correction operation and measurement procedure. For detailed instructions, please refer to the TS-2700 instruction manual.

Connect the torque sensor and the TS-2700 using the dedicated cable.

Connect the power supplies for the torque sensor and the TS-2700.

Press and hold the "MENU" key on the TS-2700 for 2 seconds or more to enter menu setting mode. Set each menu item, such as "Capacity (detector torque capacity)" and "FACTOR," according to the torque detector. Refer to the TS-2700 instruction manual for operation instructions.

Press the "MEAS/CAL" key on the TS-2700 to return to measurement mode.

Set the TS-2700 to CW (light on) using the "CW/CCW" key.

Set the torque sensor switch to CW (clockwise). The torque sensor will turn on, and the attached motor will start rotating. Please note that the switch has three positions: neutral (power off), CW, and CCW.

Ensure the torque sensor is unloaded. Also, confirm that the "READY" lamp on the TS-2700 is lit (confirming that the signal is being received correctly). If the READY lamp is not lit, it is possible that the sensor is not powered on, such as when the sensor switch is in neutral.

Press and hold the "TRQ ZERO" key on the TS-2700 for 2 seconds or more. The zero correction value will be set automatically, and the torque display will become zero. This completes the CW zero correction operation.

Similarly, set it to CCW and perform steps 1 through 8 above.

Set both the torque detector and the TS-2700 to CW/CCW settings to match the rotation direction of the shaft being tested, and then begin the measurement.

One way to determine if the torque sensor is malfunctioning is to check if the zero correction value has changed significantly from the factory setting. For more details, please refer to the FAQ "How to check the zero correction value set on the TS-2700".
