DS-2000 Frequently Asked Questions
Question number FAQ-0720
The system calculates and displays the acceleration calculated from the acceleration measured by the 3-axis Accelerometer
If the measured accelerations for each axis of a 3-axis Accelerometer are denoted as X, Y, and Z, then the combined acceleration can be calculated using the following formula.
In the case of power spectra, calculations are performed for each frequency component. If acceleration X, Y, and Z are measured simultaneously on channels 1, 2, and 3 respectively, and the measured power spectrum data are denoted as PWR1, PWR2, and PWR3, then the combined acceleration for each frequency can be calculated using the following formula.
PWR1, PWR2, PWR3: Power spectrum of channels 1, 2, and 3.
Here, we show an example where, in a four-screen display, screen 1 shows the power spectrum PWR1 of channel 1, screen 2 shows the power spectrum PWR2 of channel 2, and screen 3 shows the power spectrum PWR3 of channel 3, and screen 4 displays the calculated composite acceleration for each frequency.
■Measurement Examples
- On the "Data Display → Layout Settings" page, set it to display four screens. The display frames are Screen 1 from the top left, Screen 2 from the top left, and Screen 3 and Screen 4 from the bottom left.
- Screens 1 through 3 display the power spectra PWR1, PWR2, and PWR3 for channels 1, 2, and 3, respectively.
- Click the data area on screen 4 to activate it (the data text will turn blue).
- Open the "Analysis → Formula Settings" page, create the following formula on screen 4, check the "Calculate" box, and click the OK button. The calculation will be executed and displayed on screen 4.
The Y-axis scale will be set to "LIN".

Supplemental information: "In the case of saved data"
When spectral data for each axis is measured and saved using a single-axis Accelerometer, the power spectral data for the X, Y, and Z axes can be called up to data position (display frame) screens 1, 2, and 3 respectively, and similar calculations and displays can be performed by executing the following formula.
<Note>
The power spectrum data stores the squared value of the amplitude A (effective value). Based on this value, if the Y-axis scale is log, 10logA² is displayed, and if it is LIN, √A²is displayed.
The above formula performs the following calculation:
●When the Y-axis scale is LIN
X, Y, Z: Power spectrum of the same frequency
●When the Y-axis scale is log
