Digital Gauges: Frequently Asked Questions
Question number FAQ-0067
DG-4240 Measurement Procedure and How to Clear Error Messages
The measurement procedure is generally as follows:
(1) Connect to peripheral devices.

(2) Turn on the power. The device will immediately enter an operating state.
(3) Move the spindle of the gauge sensor to the position you want to set as the zero point, and then fix the spindle in place.
(4) Reset the measurement to zero at the zero point position using one of the following methods:
Press the RESET switch on the front panel.
Short-circuit the RESET input terminal (No. 21) and the COM terminal (No. 22) on the rear panel.
- Input a low-level voltage signal from the reset input (pin 32) of the BCD OUT connector on the rear panel.
(5) When the GS sensor spindle is moved, the measured value is displayed on the front panel display, and at the same time, a judgment is made.
- Hold measurement values
The measured values and BCD output displayed on the front panel can be held. There are two methods for holding the values:
- Short-circuit the HOLD input terminal (No. 20) and the COM terminal (No. 22) on the rear panel.
- A low-level voltage signal is input via the hold input (pin 31) of the BCD OUT connector on the rear panel.
Stop pass/fail judgment / Stop pass/fail judgment output
By inputting a compare gate signal in the following manner, the pass/fail judgment will be forcibly stopped, and all pass/fail judgment outputs will be turned OFF.
- Short-circuit the COMPARATE GATE input terminal (No. 8) and COM terminal (No. 9) on the rear panel.
- A low-level voltage is input via the comparator gate input (pin 34) of the BCD OUT connector on the rear panel.
Clear the error message
If a miscount occurs in the unit's counting circuit, the front panel display will blink, and the error output (pin 30) on the BCD OUT connector will turn ON. To clear the error state, use the following zero-reset method. Please refer to the DG4240 troubleshooting guide.
- Press the RESET switch on the front panel.
- Short-circuit the RESET input terminal (No. 21) and the COM terminal (No. 22) on the rear panel.
- A low-level voltage signal is input via the reset input (pin 32) of the BCD OUT connector on the rear panel.
