What is the lateral sensitivity of a single-axis Accelerometer?

The instruction manual and other documentation may state "Lateral sensitivity: 5% or less." When measuring vertical vibration, Accelerometer is fixed perpendicular to the vibration surface as shown in the diagram. However, if the horizontal vibration is large in this state, it will affect the voltage output of Accelerometer. The instruction manual and other documentation express this effect as lateral sensitivity and state it as "Maximum of 5% or less of vertical sensitivity."

For example, in the case of Accelerometer that states "maximum vertical sensitivity of 5% or less," if there is horizontal acceleration of 1 m/ in addition to vertical vibration, a voltage equivalent to up to 5% of this, or 0.05 m/ s², will be included in the output as an error. If the horizontal vibration is also large, we recommend using a 3-axis Accelerometer such as the NP-3560B, which can also measure horizontal acceleration.
