What happens to the output if the vibration pickup is mounted at an angle to the vibration surface?
Due to constraints such as the mounting location, it may be necessary to mount Accelerometer at a certain angle (θ) to the actual vibration direction. In this case, the output voltage from Accelerometer will be cos θ times the actual vibration value. Generally, the catalog lists the sensitivity value when mounted perpendicular to the vibration surface, but as shown in the figure below, if it is mounted at a certain angle (θ) to the vibration surface, the catalog sensitivity can be considered to be cos θ times. For example, the sensitivity when mounted at a 10° tilt will be "0.985 times" the catalog sensitivity, and this sensitivity value will be used as the reference for the output.

For vertical vibration measurements, Accelerometer should be mounted so that its axis is oriented vertically. | If the mounting of Accelerometer is angled θ away from the vertical measurement, the output voltage will be multiplied by cos θ (for example, if it is tilted by 10 degrees, it will be multiplied by 0.985). |
