Torque Meter Frequently Asked Questions

Question number FAQ-1274

Regarding matching adjustments and accuracy due to changes in signal cable length.

The main effect of cable length changes on accuracy is on the N-0 characteristic (where torque is displayed even when the shaft is rotating despite no load). Some TS series displays have an "N-0 correction function," which can be used to correct the N-0 characteristic. In this case, please use a dedicated cable whose characteristics are known (for EZ series pressure-resistant explosion-proof torque detectors, please use the recommended cable).

The matching adjustment performed at the time of shipment is done using electrical components such as resistors. The FACTOR (phase difference-torque proportionality coefficient), N-0 characteristics, and overall accuracy are checked, and a test report detailing these values is attached. If the cable length increases by more than 5 meters from the current length, we recommend performing the same matching adjustment inspection (for a fee) as at the time of shipment.

Accuracy after matching adjustment = "Rated torque value of torque detector" × ±0.2% (when N-0 correction is ON)

■ Matching adjustment

  • For new orders specifying the length of the signal cable:
We perform matching adjustments between the detector and display using a new signal cable, and deliver the product with a test report attached.
  • If you are currently using the detector and display unit, we will take them back, perform matching adjustments using newly manufactured signal cables, and return them to you with a test report attached.

Please be sure to use the specified signal cable. We provide quotes and manufacture cables to your specified length. A 5m signal cable is included as standard with the torque sensor (for EZ series pressure-resistant explosion-proof torque sensors, the user must provide the signal wire within the explosion-proof area).
