Is it acceptable to mount the detector vertically? If so, what are the precautions to take during installation?
It is possible to mount the detector vertically. However, please limit the load to approximately the weight of the coupling.
Similarly, the detector can be mounted on the side or upside down (backside), but the mounting surface should be a sufficiently strong plate, and the mounting should be designed to allow for easy cable routing and maintenance.
Please set the centering accuracy to 2 to 3/100 mm.
A typical installation example is shown below.
(1) When no fluctuating load is applied to the shaft
External devices are connected using a lexicular coupling.

(2) When a fluctuating load is applied to the shaft
An intermediate bearing is installed to prevent fluctuating loads from being applied to the shaft end of the torque sensor.

(3) Prohibition of belt, chain and gear drive systems
As shown in the diagram below, if power is transmitted directly to the torque sensor shaft using a belt pulley, or sprockets and gears used in chains, a large load is placed on the sensor shaft. This not only negatively affects torque measurement but can also damage the bearings supporting the shaft.


As shown in the diagram below, by inserting an intermediate bearing between the detector and the drive motor, accurate measurements can be taken without bending the detector's axis, even when driven by a V-belt and tension is applied to the belt.
(4) When installing vertically
The detector can be mounted vertically for use. Please install it considering (1) to (3).
To reiterate, the thrust load on the detector should be considered to be approximately the weight of the coupling on the torque detector side being used.
