Why is the noise level displayed as a higher value compared to the octave analysis display of the LA-5111 and LA-5110?

It is believed that loud sounds occur at frequencies higher than 14.03 kHz.

In octave analysis, the upper limit of the maximum analysis band, the 12.5 kHz center frequency band, is 14.03 kHz. On the other hand, microphone sensitivity can measure up to 20 kHz. Therefore, the noise level display shows the noise level measured in the frequency band of the microphone sensitivity, from 20 Hz to 20 kHz.
Note that when octave analysis is performed, the ALLPASS 1 value (see diagram below) displayed simultaneously indicates the same value as the noise level.

supplementary explanation

When connecting the AC output of the LA-5111 and LA-5110 sound level meters to an FFT analyzer or similar device for noise analysis, analysis can be performed in the range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The LA-5111 and LA-5110 have been discontinued, and the LA-5560 is sold as their successor model. The LA-5560's octave analysis allows for analysis and display up to a center frequency band of 20 kHz (upper frequency limit of 22.4 kHz).
