■Data Removal Function Settings

Overview of the data removal function

The LA-1250/1350/4350 models are equipped with a data removal function. This function incorporates a buffer memory that temporarily stores measurement data from the past 10 seconds. This allows the device to remove data up to 10 seconds prior to measurement in case of sudden noise interference during measurement, preventing the noise from being reflected in the measurement results.

When the [START] switch on the LA-1250/1350/4350 sound level meter is pressed to begin measurement, the contents of the buffer memory are first initialized. Then, as the measurement time elapses, data is stored in the built-in buffer memory at 0.1-second intervals. However, once the measurement time exceeds 10 seconds, the oldest measurement data stored in the buffer memory is erased and overwritten with the latest measurement data.

This means that, as long as the measurement data is within the elapsed time range stored in the built-in buffer memory, it is possible to exclude any measurement data from being reflected in the measurement value. When data removal is performed, the elapsed measurement time displayed will decrease, and the measurement value display will show the measurement value after data removal.

Data removal procedure

When data removal is performed, the data in the buffer memory is continuously removed in 0.2-second increments, as shown in the following diagram.

【Note】

The maximum time for data removal is 10 seconds. However, if the measurement has just started and less than 10 seconds have elapsed, or if the buffer memory is not yet full with data immediately after data removal, only the data stored in the buffer memory can be removed.

If you hold down the [PAUSE] panel switch on the LA-1250/1350/4350 for 0.5 seconds or more, the system will remove data from the buffer memory by 0.2 seconds for every 0.1 seconds the switch is held down, up to a maximum of 10 seconds. While data is being removed, the pause mark (||) will blink, and the elapsed measurement time will decrease.

• When the timer is turned OFF, data removal can be performed any number of times until the measurement is complete.
• When the timer measurement is ON, it functions the same as when the timer measurement is OFF, as long as it is within the set measurement cycle.

However, if the actual measurement time for the previous measurement is insufficient when the next measurement start time is reached, the next measurement will begin.

Releasing the [PAUSE] hold on the LA-1250/1350/4350 panel switch will interrupt data removal and switch to a paused state. At this time, the blinking of the pause mark (||) will also stop. Pressing the [PAUSE] button on the LA-1250/1350/4350 panel switch again in this state will resume measurement.

Please note that once all measurement data stored in the buffer memory has been removed, holding down the LA-1250/1350/4350 panel switch [PAUSE] will only automatically switch to a paused state.
