Question number FAQ-1148

Printer connection and setup

■Printer connection and setup

Digital printer DPU-414

The LA-1240/1250/1350/4350 can be connected to the separately sold digital printer DPU-414.
By connecting the sound level meter and the DPU-414 digital printer with the AX-5042 printer cable, various measurement data and data stored in memory can be printed out in the following two modes:

Normal print modeRegular printout
Auto print modeAutomatically prints out memory recall data and timer measurement results.

Please note that when using the DPU-414 digital printer, you will also need to purchase the separately sold dedicated AC adapter.
Furthermore, for instructions on using the DPU-414 digital printer, please refer to the instruction manual included with the DP-414 in addition to this manual.

How to connect to the digital printer DPU-414

As shown in the diagram, connect the RS-232C connector of the sound level meter to the digital printer DPU-414 using the printer connection cable (AX-5042).

Procedure for setting communication conditions

The communication conditions between the LA-1240/1250/1350/4350 and the DPU-414 are pre-configured at the factory settings, allowing printing without changing any settings on the printer side. However, if the communication conditions have been changed for any reason, please reset them using the following procedure.

  1. When you turn on the power while pressing the panel switch [A/C/FLAT (RS232C)], the RS-232CON mark will appear on the LCD screen, and the communication speed setting value displayed at the bottom of the LCD screen will blink.
  2. Set the values in the following order: communication speed, terminator, and flow control.
Press the panel switch [LEVEL (▲・▼)] to switch the value you want to set.
The setting item (flashing) can be switched by pressing the panel switch [FAST/SLOW (NEXT)].
  3. After completing the setup, press the panel switch [START (ENTER)].
The communication settings with the printer are reset, and the sound level meter starts up.
  4. • Communication speed

Set the same value as the baud rate setting for the DPU-414.

    ■Printing measurement data

The LA-1240/1250/1350/4350 sound level meters can print measurement data, data stored in memory, and measurement data from timer measurements from an external printer connected to the device. During printing, an RS-232C ON mark indicating the transmission of print data will be displayed on the LCD screen.

    Print measurement data

Pressing the [PRINT] switch on the LA-1240/1250/1350/4350 sound level meter's panel will transfer the measurement data to the connected external printer (such as the DPU-414) and start printing.

Print memory data and timer measurement data.

In the LA-1240/1250/1350/4350 sound level meters, if the [PRINT] panel switch is pressed for 0.5 seconds or longer during memory recall or timer measurement (except for the LA-1240), the RS-232CON mark will flash, and then automatic printing will begin.

    • During manual memory recall, the system prints sequentially from the currently selected address to the address where the data is stored.
    • During block memory recall, the data from the currently selected address to the last block memory address measured under the same conditions is printed out sequentially.
    • During timer measurement, the measured results will be printed out after each measurement is completed.
    【Note】

Auto-printing during timer measurement is possible when the measurement cycle is set to 10 seconds or longer.
