The sound level meter is designated as a specific measuring instrument, and when used for transactions or certification, it must be measured using a sound level meter that has passed inspection and is within its validity period. This inspection system has been established to facilitate individual inspections easily, and a type approval system is in place.

 

For specific types of sound level meters, a system is in place where important matters are rigorously tested in advance, and those that pass receive a type approval number. The pass or fail status is then determined through a simpler test primarily focused on measurement error.

Our company's LA series sound level meters have obtained type approval, so they can undergo this certification.

The calibration of the sound level meter is conducted by the Japan Quality Assurance Organization (JQA), and a certificate of compliance (with calibration mark) indicating a validity period of 5 years (revised for 5 years from April 1998) will be affixed to the product that has passed the calibration.

 

Additionally, the Measurement Law establishes a system for designated manufacturers, allowing those with excellent quality control capabilities to conduct self-inspections based on the standards of the testing regulations for specific measuring instruments they produce at the time of new shipment. They are permitted to affix a 'Conformity Mark', which can substitute for official testing.

Our company has obtained the designation, so we can act on behalf of the inspection for new shipments and affix the certification (Standard Compliance Certification Seal).

In this way, if you purchase a specific measuring instrument marked with the conformity certification mark, you can use it for transactions or certification without undergoing the initial inspection.

However, when the validity period expires, re-evaluation must be applied for to the designated authority (JQA) as stipulated by the Measurement Law. (After our company conducts preliminary checks and adjustments, the evaluation will be performed by JQA.)
