The sound of a door closing is a transient phenomenon with a duration of around 200ms. Is it possible to use sound quality evaluation metrics such as loudness and sharpness to accurately represent this sound?
Loudness can differ even at the same sound level depending on whether the sound is steady or transient. Our sound quality analysis method can also analyze transient sounds (specifically, it incorporates the effect of masking over time), and parameters can be calculated in as little as 20ms. The same applies to sharpness.
