Frequently Asked Questions about the Tachometer
Question Number FAQ-0907
"Measuring the rotational speed of a diesel engine with GE-1400 and CP-044: 'When adjusting the trigger level, stable readings appear at two locations. Which one is correct?'"
Since common rail systems have become the mainstream for modern diesel engines, it has become impossible to perform measurements without increasing the sensitivity of the measuring instrument. Because the GE-1400 Diesel Engine Tachometer has higher sensitivity compared to older models, it is more susceptible to interference from other cylinders and more likely to pick up those signals. To display the accurate rotation speed without picking up disturbance signals from other cylinders, when measuring an engine for the first time, adjust the trigger level from 0 to 100% while observing the display. Afterward, adjust from the higher value toward the lower value and perform the measurement at the first position where the display becomes stable.
