Tachometer Frequently Asked Questions
Question number FAQ-0895
HT-5500 Contact/Non-Contact Handheld Tachometer: "The peripheral speed ring cannot be applied, but the rotating shaft is exposed and the diameter of the rotating body is known. Can the peripheral speed be determined from the rotational speed?"
The HT-5500 allows you to determine the peripheral speed from the rotational speed by setting the diameter of the rotating object being measured.
<Operating Procedure>
- Press the "MENU" button to enter parameter setting mode.
- Use the "MODE & NEXT" switch to enter "ADAPTOR-SEL (ADP)" mode, and then use the "RECALL & ↑" switch and the "MEMORY & →" switch to select [S-300] (rotating contactor KS-300).
- Select [m/min] in “UNIT-SEL (UNT)” mode.
- In “DIAMETER-SET (DIA)” mode, set the diameter of the rotating body to be measured (1 to 999 mm).
- Press the "MENU" button again to switch to measurement mode.
- When the KS-300 rotating contact is pressed against the center of the rotating shaft, the peripheral speed (m/min), calculated from the input values of rotational speed and diameter, is displayed on the display unit.
