Rotary Encoder Frequently Asked Questions
Question number FAQ-0889
What is a collector output?
This is an output circuit using a transistor, with the collector serving as the output terminal. When the transistor is ON, it outputs less than 0.5 V, but when it is OFF, it outputs a signal of 10 V or more.
To avoid this situation, the collector terminal is usually pulled down externally, and the system is configured so that it is at a low level when it is OFF.
