The RP-1700 series rotary encoders share a common COM and FG terminal.

By grounding the FG (Field Ground), the following effects can be obtained, which is expected to ensure stable operation of the rotary encoder and reduce the impact on external equipment.

• This prevents noise emitted from the encoder from being released outside the enclosure.
• Prevents external noise from entering the encoder.
