There is a hole with a diameter of 30 mm and a depth of 50 mm in a shaft with a diameter of 300 mm; can this be used to detect rotational pulses (the shaft material is iron)?

It is possible, but it is necessary to adjust the gap while checking the output waveform of the MP-981 with an oscilloscope or similar device. (This differs from the gap conditions stated in the instruction manual.)

Output waveform is

Lo (below 0.5V): near the hole.

Hi (approximately 4.5V): places other than the hole

I will align the gap in order to become that way.

However, the installation of the MP-981 may be influenced by the surrounding environment, such as being near a wall, and it does not necessarily result in the waveform described above.

For example, the high voltage level is temporary (one-shot).
