It is possible, but you will need to adjust the gap while checking the output waveform of the MP-981 with an oscilloscope or similar device. (This will differ from the gap conditions described in the instruction manual.)

The output waveform

Lo (0.5V or less): Near the hole

Hi (approx. 4.5V): Areas other than the holes

We adjust the gap so that it becomes like this.

However, the magnetic circuit of the MP-981 may be affected by its surroundings, such as its proximity to a wall, and the waveform may not necessarily be as described above.

For example, the voltage high level may be temporary (one-shot).
