Application Example 1: Vibration analysis of structures

Resonance is considered one of the biggest causes of chatter vibrations in robots and machine tools, as well as vibrations and noise in aircraft and vehicles. A popular method for analyzing this is measuring the frequency response function of the object using an impulse hammer. Excitation with an impulse hammer does not require attaching the structure to the exciter and the measurement time is short, making it suitable for on-site measurements, including troubleshooting. Gradu can expand the number of channels from a minimum of 2 to a maximum of 32. For single-point excitation and single-point response, a minimum of 2 channels is required; for simultaneous measurement of X, Y, and Z points, 4 channels are required; and for large structures, one excitation channel can provide up to 31 response signals.
■Measurement Examples

1) The structure is vibrated using an impulse hammer.

  • Impulse hammer and Accelerometer can be directly input.
  • You can expand the number of channels from 2 to 32.
  • By configuring the optional signal output, you can conduct vibration experiments using a vibration exciter.
  • By setting the 2-channel signal output, simultaneous excitation at two points is possible.
  • It is possible to perform modal analysis directly on the measurement results.
  • By performing simultaneous measurements at multiple points, it is possible to display an animation of actual vibrations.

2) Example of simultaneous multi-point vibration measurement using a multi-channel input unit
