DS-2000 Frequently Asked Questions

Question number FAQ-0689

What is the maximum storage time for the DS-0250 throughput?

The maximum file size for recording is 4 GB.

The approximate storage time that can be recorded with 4GB is calculated as follows:

Approximate memory time (minutes) = (4 × 1024 × 1024 × 1024) ÷ (frequency range × 2.56 × K) ÷ 60 s ÷ number of channels to store

16-bit storage K=2 (bytes)
24-bit storage, K=4 (bytes)

example

For 1 channel, frequency range 20kHz, 16-bit saving:

The sampling frequency becomes 20000 × 2.56 = 51200 (Hz), meaning 51200 data points are acquired per second.

In the case of 16-bit, 2 bytes are required, so in terms of bytes, 102,400 bytes are stored per second.

The amount of time that can be stored on 4GB is (4 × 1024 × 1024 × 1024) ÷ (51200 × 2) ÷ 60s ÷ 1 = 699 (minutes).
