(1) What happens when dBVr is converted to voltage? (2) What happens when the time-domain waveform is converted to amplitude reading in dB?
(1) dBVr=10LOG {Vrms/(reference)} 2 = 20LOG (Vrms)
The baseline is the RMS value of 1Vrms
Vrms=10dbVr/20
(2) Since the time waveform is a combination of various frequencies, caution is required when calculating dB from the waveform peak.
The calculation assumes PP = 1.39mV.
The amplitude (0-P) is 0.695mV, therefore, similar to (1)
dBV=20LOG (0.695× 10−3)
The standard is 1V per amplitude.
However, the frequency is unknown.
