The power spectrum average has settings for the number of cycles and time, but what is the relationship between them?
The number of analysis cycles specified means that each frequency-analyzed data point is treated as one data point, and the number of data points to be averaged (i.e., the number of analysis cycles) is the number of analysis cycles to be performed.
Setting a time limit means repeating the averaging process until the desired average time is reached.
A single frequency analysis means that, although the initial setting is a data length (number of samples) of 2048, one FFT (frequency analysis) is performed on this data.
Data is constantly being sampled behind the scenes of the calculation.
Once the FFT calculation is complete, the next FFT is performed using data going back 2048 steps from that point. Therefore, a portion of the previous data is used, a process called overlap.
The amount of overlap varies depending on the frequency range, so in the case of time averaging, it is impossible to know how many times the average will be without measuring it once.
