CF-5200 Frequently Asked Questions
Question number FAQ-0464
Which is better to use for vibration analysis: AC or DC coupling?
When viewing the input waveform as is, use DC; when viewing the AC component within it, use AC.
AC includes a high-pass filter that cuts out components below approximately 0.5Hz.
When frequency analysis is performed, the DC component is displayed at the 0Hz point.
Since vibration and noise waveforms have AC components (no DC components), AC coupling is used.
