I connected it to a HI80 plotter (discontinued), but it displays "DEVICE NO ACTIVE".

Turn ON switches 4 and 5 on the HI80's GPIB board (to enable listen-only mode).

Connect the GPIB connector.

Set the CF copy device to HPGL and make the CF card talk-only.
