The frequency of scratches in bearings and the frequency of scratches in gears are different. The natural frequencies of scratches on the inner ring, outer ring, and rolling elements of a bearing can be determined by the bearing number (number of balls, etc.) and the rotational speed. If a gear has scratches, an impact vibration occurs once per rotation, so it occurs at the primary rotational frequency (this is different from the gear meshing frequency).
A common method for analyzing vibration frequencies caused by damage is to perform an FFT on a signal that has been band-pass filtered and envelope-processed.
