Wire Encoder Frequently Asked Questions

For displaying the travel distance of the WE-1011 and WE-5011 wire encoders, we have prepared the RV-3150 reversible counter. By using the 2x function of the RV-3150, it can display in units of 0.1 mm. Please note that the signal input is via a terminal block, so please create an extension cable and make the connections.
For information on extension cables, please refer to the section "How to extend the signal cable".

■ Connection to RV-3150

The wiring to the terminal block of the RV-3150 is as follows. Functional settings for the RV-3150 are also necessary, so please refer to the instruction manual included with the RV-3150 for details. The diagram below shows the signal input terminal block of the RV-3150.

■ About the wiring of the RV-3150 terminal block

The terminal block of the RV-3150 reversible counter is a type that connects wires directly using a pressure connection method, so please connect it correctly according to the following connection method.

• Please use wires sized from AWG 28 to 16. (0.14 to 1.5 mm ²)

• Please make the stripping length of the wire 7 ± 1 mm.

• Do not pre-solder the tips of the wires. It will prevent proper connections.

• When tightening terminal screws, please use a screwdriver that matches the slotted dimensions of the terminal screws. If it does not match, you may not be able to tighten it to the specified torque, which could damage the terminal screws.

• Please tighten the terminal screws to a torque of 0.25 N·m. This will prevent the screws from loosening and the wires from coming loose.
