Capacitance Thickness Gauge / Displacement Gauge Frequently Asked Questions

The VE series gap detector calculates the gap based on capacitance values, assuming there is air between the conductor and the sensor. In measuring the thickness of an insulator, it measures the change in capacitance caused by the presence of the insulator between the reference floor (conductor) and the sensor to calculate the thickness.
