What are the advantages of using the VE series gap detector?
Benefit 1: Can measure without contact
The VE series gap detectors use capacitive sensors and perform non-contact measurements, so they do not deform or damage the object being measured. They can also measure the thickness of soft objects that would deform if touched.

Benefit 2: As long as it's a conductor, the material and surface condition don't matter.
The VE series gap detectors are capacitive sensors that can measure any conductive material regardless of its material or surface condition. Whether the surface is mirror-finished or rough, it does not affect the measurement. In contrast, eddy current sensors are relatively inexpensive and can be used in environments with oil mist, but their output characteristics vary greatly depending on the material, so they cannot be used without calibration for each material. Also, laser-type triangulation displacement meters can be affected by non-uniformity of surface reflectivity, secondary reflections from nearby objects, and back-surface reflections from transparent objects.
