Roller Encoder Frequently Asked Questions
Question number FAQ-0134
What is a totem pole output (standard specification)?
A totem-pole output is an output circuit that combines two transistors. Since the output level is either High or Low, there are no uncertain signal levels. The output level in the High state is 10V or higher, and the output level in the Low state is 0.5V or lower. (Load resistance 470Ω or higher)
The output resistor R0 in the output circuit of the RP-7400 series (see diagram below) uses a thermistor that has a resistance of 6.8 Ω at 25°C. (r0: 20mA)
*A thermistor is a resistor whose electrical resistance changes in response to temperature changes.
