Digital Gauges: Frequently Asked Questions

Question number FAQ-0068

DG-4240 Comparator Function

The upper and lower limits that serve as the criteria for determining whether a device passes or fails are set using the UPPER and LOWER digital switches on the front panel.

The results are as follows:

Judgment criteriaJudgementDisplay and output of judgment results
LOWER setting value ≥ Displayed valueLOWER- The LOWER indicator light on the COMPARATOR indicator lights up red.
・LOWER output relays (NO.10, 11) ON
- SCD OUT connector LOWER output (pin 22) ON
LOWER setting value < Displayed value < UPPER setting valueOK- The COMPARATOR indicator light is green when it shows OK.
- OK output relays (No. 12, 13) ON
- SCD OUT connector OK output (pin 22) ON
UPPER setting value ≤ Display valueUPPER- The UPPER indicator light on the COMPARATOR indicator lights up red.
・UPPER output relays (No. 14, 15) ON
- BCD OUT connector UPPER output (pin 23) ON

When the gauge sensor spindle is pressed, you need to consider whether it counts as positive (+) or negative (-), where the decimal point is displayed, where to set the zero, and then set the upper and lower limits.

<Example Setting 1> Allows a range of -0.2 to +0.5 mm.

The GS-251 and GS-1513A have a resolution of 10 μm, so when the lower limit of the pass line is -0.2 mm, it will display -0.20, and when the upper limit of the pass line is +0.5 mm, it will display 0.50. The values judged as OK do not include the LOWER and UPPER settings. Setting LOWER to -00021 and UPPER to +00051 will result in a range of 0.2 to 0.5 mm being considered OK.

Example configuration 1-1.bmp (86184 bytes)

Example configuration 1-2.bmp (228216 bytes)

<Example setting 2> Allow for a range of +5 to 10 mm.

The GS-5011 and GS-1630A have a resolution of 1 μm, so when the lower limit of the pass line is + 5 mm, it displays 5.000, and when the upper limit of the pass line is + 10 mm, it displays 10.000. The value judged as OK does not include the LOWER and UPPER settings, so if you set LOWER to +04999 and UPPER to +10001, the range of +5 to +10 mm will be OK.

Example configuration 2-1.bmp (95208 bytes)

Example configuration 2-2.bmp (268704 bytes)
