Digital Gauges: Frequently Asked Questions
Question number FAQ-0044
Could you please explain the update timing of the gauge counter's BCD output?
Ono Sokki The timing when the digital gauge counter updates the BCD output can be broadly divided into two types.
1. DG-4320/4340, DG-5100 (BCD output is an optional feature), and DG-4140 (discontinued item)
The BCD output is updated at regular time intervals.

If the counter reading does not change, the BCD output data will be retained.
(Data is not output only during updates, nor is the signal interrupted every time an update is performed.)
The output update time interval is 25 ms for the DG-4140, but it has been shortened to 10 ms for the DG-4320/4340 and DG-5100.
2. DG-4120/4240/4280 (Discontinued items)
The BCD output is updated when there is a change in the measured value.

The BCD output of the DG-4120/4240/4280 is linked to an internal counter, so it updates at almost the same time as the counter reading changes. The delay is approximately 20 μs.
