Vehicle Speedometer Frequently Asked Questions
Question number FAQ-0035
Would the best location for the optional small IMU be the vehicle's center of gravity?
The optional miniature IMU enables measurement and output of XYZ acceleration, angle, and angular velocity.
The LC-8300's measurement origin is the IMU, so if you place it at the center of gravity, it will output the acceleration, angular velocity, and angle at that position.
Therefore, when placed at the center of gravity, it will output the acceleration, angle, and angular velocity of the vehicle itself.
From the perspective of speed and distance measurement, accuracy is achieved when the IMU and antenna are positioned vertically at the same location.
