Vehicle Speedometer Frequently Asked Questions

Question number FAQ-0030

I understand that calibration is required before taking measurements.

In GPS speedometers that use an IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), the IMU needs to be initialized in order to fuse the satellite signal with the IMU's signal.

To initialize Ono Sokki GPS speedometer, turn on the power and then move forward at a speed of 30 km/h or more.

When moving forward at a speed of 30 km/h or more, the IMU will automatically begin initialization.

Always drive the vehicle straight ahead in the direction of travel.

During IMU initialization, an initialization in progress mark (IS) will be displayed in the algorithm accuracy display on the measurement screen, and the STATUS LED located on the front panel of the LC-8300 unit will light up orange.

After initialization begins, the STATUS LED will light up green, and the algorithm accuracy display will show the operating mode mark (N) and accuracy (numerical value). The "N0" indicator, indicating that accuracy is not guaranteed, will remain displayed for a while until initialization is completely finished.

After starting the initialization process, drive for approximately 60 seconds. When the display changes from "N0" to "N2" through "N9", the initialization is complete.

The procedure is the same for both the built-in IMU and the optional miniature IMU.

Initialization must be performed every time the power is turned on.
