Ono Sokki Co., Ltd. (President: Yuji Okoshi), a manufacturer and seller of electronic measuring instruments, will collaborate with the Kanagawa University Minato Mirai Extension Center to hold a lifelong learning course for elementary school students titled "Midsummer Sound Play: Let's Make My Own Microphone!" on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the Ono Sokki Yokohama Technical Center (Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture).

In this course, you will learn about the mechanisms of "sound" and "vibration" in a fun way through your own microphone construction. The content includes hands-on activities and experiments that allow you to experience the wonders of familiar phenomena and the enjoyment of "making things" and "measuring."
Background of Participation
Amid the challenges of a shortage of science and engineering talent and the younger generation's disengagement from science, our company participates in this course with the desire to convey the appeal of manufacturing and the importance of measurement, contributing to the development of human resources that support Japan's manufacturing industry. Our collaboration with Kanagawa University's Minato Mirai Extension Center marks the second year following last year's successful course themed "Let's Play with Measuring Instruments! The Fascinating World of 'Sound' That Will Keep You Awake," which received positive feedback from many participants. Moving forward, our company will continue to value collaboration with local communities and educational institutions, working to foster the next generation and contribute to society by providing learning opportunities that leverage measurement technology.

Program Content
Using familiar materials such as plastic cups and magnets, you will create your own unique "microphone." By using the microphone you made to record your voice, you will have the experience of "measuring" while learning about how sound is transmitted and its mechanisms in a fun way.

Since the content will also be useful for summer vacation projects, we sincerely look forward to the participation of elementary school students who are interested in sound and making things.
