The purpose of this consortium is to create innovative aircraft electrification technologies that drastically reduce environmental impacts such as CO2 emissions through domestic and international collaboration across various fields, not just aerospace engineering. Our aim in joining is to view the aircraft industry as a target industry and to explore the trends in electrification that we believe will grow in the future, with a view to entering the industry in the future, by conducting market research. We also plan to conduct research on trends in sound and vibration measurement in the aircraft industry. We will use the technologies we have cultivated in the automotive industry to provide various support for the realization of aircraft electrification.

Key points of this presentation

  • We conducted market research to explore trends in electrification, with a view to entering the aviation industry.
  • We also plan to conduct a survey on trends in sound and vibration measurement in the aviation industry.

About the Aircraft Electrification (ECLAIR) Consortium

This consortium (established in 2018) is led by the Aerospace Technology Directorate of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), and includes leading aerospace companies in Japan and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Its purpose is to achieve the target of halving CO2 emissions from aircraft by 2050 compared to 2005 levels by introducing biofuels and implementing technological innovations such as electrification technologies.
