Taking on the challenge of carbon neutrality, contributing to improved energy efficiency in next-generation engines.

High-resolution, high-response new volumetric flow detector FP series

Towards achieving a carbon-neutral world, various countries are actively developing new technologies. The role of engines that consume fossil fuels is also diversifying; they are used not only as a power source for driving cars, but also in range-extender EVs that generate electricity with the engine while the vehicle runs on an electric motor.

In line with these trends, engine development teams are required to maximize energy efficiency while flexibly responding to multifaceted needs. To achieve this, high-resolution measurements that can capture minute changes in fuel flow rate, as well as highly responsive measurements that can sense the rapidly changing fuel consumption during the short time it takes to start and stop the engine, are necessary.

In response to the increasingly sophisticated and diverse demands for flow measurement, our company has developed the new FP series of flow detectors, which offer high resolution and high response capabilities, and are compatible with alcohol-blended fuels that require corrosion resistance, a feature not necessary for fossil fuels. By combining the new FP series flow detectors, the compact Fuel Density Meter FD-5110, and the digital flowmeter FM-3100, it is possible to calculate the amount of energy being supplied to the engine in real time.

Our fuel flow measurement system will contribute to improving the energy efficiency of next-generation engines.

Features of the new FP series positive displacement flow detector

  • Provides high-response flow measurement targeting transient flow rate changes of 1 ms.
  • Achieves a wider flow rate range *1 and higher resolution (up to 20 times better than our previous models) compared to conventional models.
  • Supports alcohol fuel as standard.
  • By integrating a fuel flow detector, a compact Fuel Density Meter, a filter, etc., mass flow measurement *2 is achieved in a space-saving manner.

*1: FP-5130 series: 0.05 to 108 L/h, FP-5140: 0.3 to 600 L/h, FP-5150 series: 1 to 1440 L/h
*2: Mass flow rate... A flow rate expressed as the change in mass per unit time. Unit: kg/h
