Torque Meter Frequently Asked Questions
Question number FAQ-1256
Differences between the TH series magnetic phase difference method and the "new" magnetic phase difference method
| Magnetic phase difference system | "New" Magnetic Phase Difference System | |
|---|---|---|
| Applicable models | SS / MD / DD / EZ / DSTP series | TH Series |
| Phase calculation method | Double gate system (Averaging over a certain period of time) | Instantaneous phase difference method (Measured at each phase difference) |
| Motor/AC power supply | The detector has a rotating hollow cylinder with an integrated internal gear inside, and since it is constantly rotating with an auxiliary motor, an AC power supply is required. | Because the detector generates an alternating magnetic field internally, a rotating hollow cylinder is unnecessary. Therefore, a motor and AC power supply are also unnecessary. |
| setting | Set characteristic data such as the detector factor and zeros on the display. (Characteristic data is listed on the model nameplate) | The display's characteristic data, such as factors and zeros, is automatically set in the display when the power is turned on. |
| accuracy | ±0.2%/full scale | ±0.1%/full scale |
| CE compliant | SS-E series only | TH All Series |
| Signal from detector to display | Phase difference sine wave output | Phase difference pulse output (Line driver output) |
| Maximum response frequency (*1) | 10 Hz | Standard: 100Hz |
| Update time | Updated every 4 ms (Optional 1 ms response time available) | Update every 50 μs |
| Direction of rotation (CW/CCW) | External rotation direction switching function is required. | No switching required |
* 1. The responsiveness can be changed by setting the time constant of the torque calculator. Furthermore, the mechanical responsiveness is limited by the moment of inertia and spring constant of the torque meter and the test specimen connected to it.
● The mounting hole dimensions, center height, and shaft dimensions are the same for both the SS series and the TH series.
