While gauge counters equipped with RS-232C or GPIB interfaces have been commercially available for inputting the output signals of optical digital linear gauge sensors into a PC, the signal from the sensor is first counted and displayed by the gauge counter before being input into the PC via RS-232C or GPIB. This requires the use of dedicated cables and various settings, and processing the acquired data necessitates the development of dedicated data processing software, thus demanding specialized knowledge of PCs and programming.
The newly announced DG-3060 gauge card employs a PCMCIA card interface, allowing direct input of output signals from optical digital linear gauge sensors to a PC. This enables the calculation and display of measurement data on the screen, as well as direct import into spreadsheet software such as Excel. This eliminates the burden of creating dedicated software, and allows for easy data processing and secondary processing such as the creation of inspection documents, even without specialized knowledge of computers or programming.
